Scrapbook layout | Love

This layout was a scraplift that I took from a member on the FTLOPP (For the love of pretty paper) facebook group.
It was the 1st challenge for interNational Scrapbook day which was to scraplift a layout that was made in April.

Below is the original beautiful made by Terri-Ann
Her layout features two photos, a large title, watercolour background and a scribbly border.
The first thing I loved about this layout was the colours and then the embellishments and splatters.

What I did very different was instead of using two photos I used one 4 x 6 photo.

The top right cluster of flowers are from the Maggie Holmes Flourish ephemera pack.

The butterflies came from the Maggie Holmes sticker book, the wood butterfly from Turn the page by Paige Evans, and the LOVE acrylic word from Crafty Templates.
I tried to use distress inks for my waterolour wash by doing the smooshing technique but it didn't work because my paper wasn't a watercolour paper.
So I decided to put a layer of white acrylic paint (no gesso!) and waited it to dry before I added watercolour which worked out pretty fine. It matched the picture very well!
It is really about time I invest in some gesso.

Lastly, I added the journaling. This layout is about my 5 kittens - which I had the privilege of raising since they were newborns till 5 months. They were such a lovely bunch of furballs with very different personalities. They are all gone now to different homes - but they are definitely not forgotten.

Thank you for checking out my scraplifted layout.
see you soon!
