Journaling | April Qur'aan Journaling
Assalaamu 'alaykum! (May Peace be upon you)
My goal for this year and the years to come is to build my connection to my Lord through reading His Words; the Qur'aan. There's a saying:
"if you want to talk to Allaah, make du'aa. If you want Allaah to talk to YOU, read the Qur'aan"
Which brings me to the topic of this post:
Keeping a journal was something that I always wanted to have but I was under the illusion that one must have the perfect handwriting or amazing drawing skills to be able to have one. Not only that, I thought that you have to have something to say - probably something deep and poetic.
But what I realised was that I didn't need to have those things, I just needed to start. Those things can come later - if at all!
I have been following Ameenah at Mariam Poppins for a while now and have always loved her Qur'aan journaling that she shares on her Instagram. She makes a theme for each month and gives an ayah to do each day surrounding that chosen theme.
This was my call- my call to start journaling and there was no better way to start. But I needed to do something to the cover of my traveler notebook insert that I had - it was kraft and boring looking so I vamped it up!
The inserts are from Amazon and you get a pack of 5 with various styles of paper. I provided the link but the exact one I got is no longer available, however there are plenty of alternatives. Here is one >> click here
All I did was took a patterned paper of my choice and trimmed it down to the size of the cover (which is 21 x 11 cm / 8.25 x 4.3 inch. ) and glued it on to the cover. Easy!
