Lawn Fawnatics Challenge 1 : Birthday!
Jambo (hello) everyone!
Remember that scene in Lion King when Simba looks up at the starry night sky?
Here's a card inspired by that and also by the Lawn Fawnatics March Challenge! So happy and excited to be joining in. My first challenge I've ever participated in.
To begin:
I took some Neenah solar white cardstock and inked it up to get a beautiful galaxy background using Distress Inks. To get the flecks of stars, I misted it with water using a mister then mixed white acrylic paint with water onto an acrylic block and using my daughters old toothbrush to flick off the paint from the edge.
The bristles on a smaller toothbrush are perfect for this as you get the right size of splatters.
I trimmed down the whole piece so I got a white border when I glued it down to the card base.
Coloured in the critters from Critters in the Savanna stamp set with Spectrum Noirs and placed them on the grass I stamped with Jalapeño and Freshly Cut Grass inks from Lawn fawn.
There was a rock in the stamp set but I didn't think the lion would fit on it. It's tiny!
So I took the tree and fussy cut out a boulder by taking off the tree trunk, branches and the outer bunch of leaves.*
*want to make clear I didn't fussy cut the actual stamp!
Don't be afraid to look beyond the image; use your imagination!
To complete the card, I heat embossed the sentiment in white embossing powder and my card is complete.
Supplies used:
Neenah Solar White card 116gsm
Lawn fawn Critters on the Savanna
Distress inks; (will update soon with the colours I used)
Hero Arts white embossing powder
Lawn fawn inks; Jalapeno, freshly cut grass
Thank you for stopping by!
