DIY Party Invitations | The Little Mermaid with Lawn Fawn

Hello!

It has been a long time since I have last posted; looking at my last post, I can't believe it has been a year! I am going to do my best from today and keep up with my blog.

My first post back is about these invitations cards I made for my cousin's daughter's friends.

Join me under the sea and I will show you how I made these cute invites!

The stamp set I used to make the invites are Mama Elephant DIY Invitations and Lawn Fawn Mermaid for you.

To begin with, I die cut the base from Lawn Fawn Sugar Plum cardstock using the largest die from Lawn Fawn fancy scalloped circles.

Using a circle die that matches the embossed circle that the scalloped die left on the base, I also die cut white circles from Neenah solar white, light teal paper from Lawn Fawn watercolor wishes and also kraft circles.

With the kraft circles, I cut two wavy sea beds using Heffy Doodle stitched slopey joes border dies (any hill dies will work); one taller than the other.

Next, I added sparkle to the edges of the purple base; take your versamark embossing pad or pen and wipe it over the scallop edges. Don't worry if it gets on the middle of the card, it will be covered up. Pour sparkle embossing powder over it, heat set it and watch the sparkle appear.

Place the white card into the MISTI (or whatever stamping platform you have) this is really needed to help line the text and lines.

I stamped the information sentiments as straight as I could with the help of the MISTI acetate grid.

Once stamped, I took the seaweeds and corals to do 2nd generation stamping.

Second generation stamping is when you use the remaining ink after you stamp one time to get a lighter look.

I carefully lined the seaweed so that it was partially off the circle, inked it up, grabbed some scrap card stamped onto it and then removed the scrap card and now stamped it onto my circle. Repeated this for the rest using different colours. After this, I adhered it to the back of the base.

Next the scene at the front of the invite:

I took the teal paper and a scallop embossing folder and ran it through my big shot plus following the embossing setting. Taking the seabeds, I added a bit of distress ink on the edges for a little bit of colour. I adhered the taller sea bed with liquid glue onto the bottom of the teal paper.
Before adding foam tape to the shorter seabed, I white embossed the sentiment. I glued this to the bottom of the previous seabed.

I stamped the images and coloured them in with Copics then cut them on my Scan and Cut. The seaweed and corals were stamped in the same ink as the 2nd generation seaweed. All the images were glued on flat as I didn't want any more dimensions. I added clear sparkle onto the top of Ariel's hair, her bra (?), tail, bubbles, top of the seabed and the shells.

Using Clark's ABCs stamps and MISTI tool, I stamped the names with Versafine onyx black. I did this a couple of times because of the texture from the embossing.

I made coordinating envelopes using Lawn Fawn Mermaid cardstock (I mean it was meant to be!) and the WRMK envelope punch board. Embossed it with the same embossing folder to continue the theme.

On the Scan and Cut machine, there is a template for a seashell. I resized it to 1" and cut it out from gold glitter cardstock to make seals for the back of the invites.

Lastly, gold alpha thickers to address the envelopes and those are my invites and envelopes complete!

This sure is labour of love but it is so adorable and will make any girl happy to receive one!

I hope this was easy to understand but do leave me a comment if you like to see a video! I'm thinking to make one for this.

Thank you for visiting my blog, hope to see you again!
