Into The Woods - Neat and Tangled party ensemble challenge
Hi!!
Neat and Tangled have always had challenges on their blog but this time around it was bigger and I couldn't help but jump in!I have a thing for themed parties and in the past year I have thrown 4 and now I can add this one.
My theme for this one was camping; obviously, there is no actual camping! but let's pretend...
The banner
I die-cut 12 stitched banners from navy blue cardstock and blended the edges with blue and black ink and then splattered it with white paint.
I also cut out 12 banners from green cardstock (to keep the stitches throughout) and then used a forest border die to cut out...a forest?
same with the blue banner I blended the trees with a dark green ink pad to give it depth.
When cutting out the trees, I made sure to have a continuous flow to the next banner.
I added the title -INTO THE WOODS- in white using letters from the Journaling Alpha dies.
Using rustic jute twine, I threaded the banner to complete it.
supplies used for banner:
- Lawn Fawn Blue Jay cardstock
- Lawn Fawn Noble Fir cardstock
- Lawn Fawn stitched banners die
- Lawn Fawn forest border die
- Neat and Tangled Journaling Alphas dies
- Tim Holtz Distress ink Forest Moss
- Tim Holtz Distress ink Chipped Sapphire
- Tim Holtz Distress ink Black Soot
The invitation card
I used a woodgrain notecard from Lawn Fawn and a patterned paper by Simple Stories called Under The Stars. Used a stitched rectangle die to cut out the starry paper to use it as a background for my scene.
The main stamp set I used for this party was the Little Bear set. It has this lovely tree and campfire which was perfect for my card. I coloured in with my spectrum noirs and backed it on some foam tape and added it on the hill.
Completed this card with white sequins.
here's a process video for this card:

Thank you frame and favours
At every party you have to have a frame and favours thanking your guests for attending.
I had this wooden frame and taking an A4 sheet of card, I used the Nesting Hexagon stencil to make a pattern in matching colour. Again, using the letter dies; I thanked my guests rather punnily.
Decorated the frame with the bear, a tree and green sequins.
The favours were a delight to make; inspired by paper bags, I used the goodie bag die from Lawn Fawn. The paper I used was Desert Storm by Neenah but you can use any kraft card.

- Tim Holtz Distress ink Tea Dye

I think it is fair to say that the marshmallows from the February release were a hit so it was a no-brainer to use them for this party because hello! Marshmallows and camping!
So the favours were going to be marshmallow and twigs like what you would have by the campfire.
sorry for the glare. used a 4 x 6 cellophane bag to package the treats
you stick the chocolate "twigs" into the marshmallows
The twigs come in mint and orange flavours, here in the UK I bought them from Aldi, they're called Matchsticks.
supplies used for favours:
- Neat and Tangled S'more fun stamp set and dies
- Lawn Fawn Goodie bag die
- Neenah Desert Storm cardstock
- Spectrum Noir TN2, TN7, BG2 and blender
Food and drink labels
Took a dark blue 12 x 12 cardstock and cut a strip off and labelled it Lake Water - duh! Kids love that right?
More trees to embellish the label
No party without food and no themed party without themed food; this is my favourite part. Being punny with food.
Cut out a window from a folded woodgrain notecard and backed it with white card. I used the pawprints and critters from the Little Bear stamp set to decorate the food labels. Here's what we had:
Chocolate mini rolls as "logs"
Chocolate cupcakes with marshmallow fluff and topped with oreo soil and a campfire
Dirt cups with gummy worms!
that's a wrap!
this was a great way to end the weekend, I had so much fun preparing this party and the kids had a blast! how real did those worms look?! thank you for visiting and reading this post! please feel free to ask me any questions about anything from this party.
