Personalised name shaker card - Lawn Fawn
Hello!
I got asked to make a baby card that has the child's name on the front and so I have come up with this. The shaker element was a last minute decision but a fun addition.
The card base was 5 3/4" x 5 3/4" so I trimmed to size and backed it with a blue gingham patterned paper.
I cut down Neenah solar white cardstock to 5.4" x 5 3/4" so that it was centered and using Cole's ABCs dies, die-cut the name of the child. Above the name, I mixed two stamp sets to form the greeting.
Next, I did second-generation stamping with Lawn Fawn Narwhal ink; so after inking I stamped it off onto some scrap paper and used the remaining ink to stamp the clothing from the Little Bundle stamp set. I wanted to make it look like the clothes were free-falling from the sky; you can see that some socks didn't come in pairs.
Now comes the trickiest part, the shaker element:
I didn't have acetate to hand so I used some packaging to create the window.
Using foam squares (so tedious) I made a border around the name, essentially a rectangle but I gave it a good amount of space for the sequins to move, making sure not to bring it close to the letters or leave any gaps.
(If I had foam tape I would double up so it could move more freely but alas! I didn't have the time. )
Before adding the sequins, I removed the tackiness from the sides of the foam tape using an embossing bag (or baby powder) to stop the sequins from sticking.
Added more foam squares to the rest of the card panel to even it out and carefully removed the backing of every foam square (please don't be me and use foam tape - for your sanity)
Just be careful not to get sequins on the tape or it won't stick to the card base properly. (EASIER SAID THAN DONE!!)
I then brought the card base to the shaker panel- carefully lining it up so that it was in the center. It really helps to have a grid mat for this part.
