Hello,
I have a bunch of stencils in my daughter's old clear zip bag ( it was used for her nappies, she's now 3 so she doesn't need it right?) and whenever I'm feeling stuck, I rummage through it and see what inspires me.
The cascading scalloped one from My Favorite Things caught my eye and immediately, I thought, MERMAIDS!

I grabbed - literally - a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" Neenah Solar white card panel and taped down the stencil over it. Looked for various minty/turquoise, green inks and started blending, light all over and then adding the shading. With the darkest shade, I swept it along the stencil, diagonally, as to deepen the shadows on the "scales", mainly focusing the shadows on the bottom left side of each scallop.

I found this vellum that has these little scalloped pattern in my vellum folder and it was a no brainer to use this.
Using the Well-Connected alphabet stamps from MFT, I white-embossed the word mermaid and to complete the sentiment, I used Milo's ABC's from Lawn Fawn.
After cutting the vellum into a thick strip, I adhered it to my card panel by wrapping and gluing the two ends behind it.

For a cute touch, I added a gold heart at the end of the letter D to make it like a mermaids tail.
As you can see- I didn't plan the spacing too well and ended up squeeezing FOR EACH OTHER. 😞...

Never the less, I completed the card with sequins from Little Things by Lucy Abrams and coloured every other row of the scales with Spectrum Noir sparkle pen (except behind the vellum).

I do hope you liked this card and thank you for swimming by !
